What is #innovation?
Yesterday, after an amazing boat ride with Nick Boscia, CPA, EA, we came off the lake and I put him to work pitting cherries 🍒 for the crumble I was making for dessert. We only have fresh Door County cherries for three weeks in the summer so he was in for a treat.
We got to talking about innovation in the accounting space. Asking: What’s really innovative? It’s funny…this cherry pitter, invented decades ago, is still the right innovation for making cherry crumble today. We didn’t need a shiny new pitter tool.
How often do we as #accountants get sucked in by a shiny new tool or technology? Even when a tool invented years ago is right for the job at hand.
I ❤️ innovation. But don’t let “shiny” and “new” be the only influence on your practice management decisions.
What old-school innovation do you feel is still the right tool in your business
or practice?
PS: I love sharing country life with my accounting peers.
